ABOUT THE PROJECT

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS

Now, you can donate a cow, and become the personal sponsor to it. You can even name it. A social and helpful cow, with a big purpose. One cow produces about 23 to 25 liters milk every single day. From that milk, we produce 4kg of cheese. 1kg of cheese sells for about 3€ at the local market. In the process of producing the cheese, a waste substance called whey occurs. This whey can be utilized in many ways, including nutrition for pigs, production of brown cheese and whey-protein for protein products. Cow fertilizer can be used to grow vegetables like tomatoes and cucumber in the greenhouse at our farm. The cow earns 12€ every day, a total of 360€ a month. One cow births one calf every year from the age of 2.

SOME FACTS ABOUT COWS

How the cow is treated reflects highly on its production of milk. Stress, disease and unease has a negative effect on the cow`s production of milk. On the Eurora-farm in Chiselet, we keep the Norwegian Animal Welfare Act close to our chest to ensure the well being of the animals. The Animal Welfare Act is based up on the individual animal and tells us how different situations affect the animal and how it`s state of mind.

  1. Animals should be treated well, and the natural needs of the animals must be considered.
  2. Animals should be healthy. Like people, injured animals feel pain.
  3. Animals should be treated properly and with respect.

Upkeeping the animals with love and care ensures fresh produce with high quality.

It is when the cow rests that it produces the milk. The Cow should rest up to 14-16 hours a day.
